This 1984 paper from the Australian Journal of Family Therapy (now the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Family Therapy) reflects the early struggles of learning the trade of family therapy. As therapists, we use metaphor in all sorts of forms, both overtly and subtly. A theoretical introduction is followed by clinical examples - some of it (in retrospect) a bit fumbling and inexact.
